  D/S RINGEN ble minesprengt 6.7.44 syd av Isle of Wight på reise fra Normandie til England. Deretter hadde han kortvarige jobber for Nortraship i land på forskjellige skip ("engine work") inntil han ble sendt til New York der han mønstret på D/T NORHOLM.
