    "He was born in Tartu, Estonia, in 1918 and grew up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the family emigrated. He joined the merchant marines as a young man and traveled the world becoming fluent in several languages. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the merchant marines during the Normandy Invasion. He met his beloved wife of 59 years, Teresa, in Liverpool, England, and they settled in Winter Park, FL, in the 1950's becoming us citizens. He is survived by wife, Teresa; and son Allen of Winter Park; daughter Christine Christman and son-in-law Craig, grandson, Andrew and granddaughter, Caroline, all of Orlando; sister, Helga Franceschi and niece Renata Franceschi of Rio de Janeiro".
