Jon Eugen Jørgensen writes in a letter to Det Norske Innskudds- og Trekkontor 27 March 1947 (translation):
"Went on "Bonneville" August 2, 1938, and went off in Port Pirie, South Australia May 1939 [...]. Went on board W. Wilhelmsen's "Thermopylæ" as passenger to travel home 7 April 1940. After the invasion of Norway, the ship changed course.
During the ship's stay in Melbourne, it was arranged that I was to go on board Leif Hogh's "Ohio", which sailed under Panama Flag, although the wages were Norwegian. Went off after 4 months, and went then on board "Skotås" of Larvik. Went off in Bombay 2 November 1941 in hope of getting a better job. Was carpenter and boatswain on all these boats, with the exception of a trip with "Bonneville", where I was third mate.
December 1941, I went on board "Panamanian" with the consul's consent. Went off in order to travel home in Colombo 23 July 1946. [...] During a great fire that erupted om board "Panamanian" in January 1945 in Fremantle, all the cabins were destroyed and all my private papers were lost".
Reiste hjem til Norge med M/S BRETAGNE 24.8.1946.
Fikk australiansk statsborgerskap i 1961
