    Styrmand Oluf Gunnerius Andersen, Havstad, deri en Tid af omtrent 4 Aar faret som Styrmand med mine skibe, har i den tid opført sig, saavidt mig bekjent, til Capteinens særdeles Tlfredshed, saa han kan anbefales som en paalidelig og digtig Styrmand.

    1.styrmann (Chief officer) EBENEZER av Arendal avmønstret 19.1.1885 i New York etter 19 måneder ombord.
    Oluf Gunnerius Andersen reiste så til Hong Kong og Shanghai for tjeneste der.

    The bearer Mr. Olof Andersen has served onoboard the HIDEYOSHI as Second & Chief Officeer for a period of five Monhs at present Chief Officer. During the time with me I found him to be thorough steady exemplary man. I have great pleasure in bearing testimony to his good abilities and uniformely good conduct.

    To certefy that Mr. O.G.Andersen served under my command as Chief Officer in the S/S YOUNG CHING from April 13th.1887 to September 15th.1888 during which time I found him sober and attentive to his duties.

    This is to certefy that Mr. O.G.Andersen has served as Chief Officer onboard the China Merchants Steam Navigation Co.`s  S/S MEIFOON for the last 2 years and 3 months.
    I have always found Mr. Andersen sober  attentive to his duties and perfectly reliable.

    Certificate of Service.
    This is to certefy that Mr. Oluf G. Andersen entere the emply of the China Marchans Steam Navigation Co.on the 13th.April 1887 and that he has since then served as second officer, was promoted to Chief on the 12th.July 1888 in which capacity be served til23te June 1891 when he went home on leave. He returned and served as Chief mate of the S/S KUNG PAI from 20th.April 1892 to 12th.of August 1892. He now wishes to obtain masters Certificate at Hong Kong.
    During the above service he has been strictly sober and attentive to his duty.

    This is to certefy Mr. O.G. Andersen has served as Chief Officer under my command on the coast of China for a period of 27 months. I have plesure in recomending him as a good and attentive officer to annyone requeiring his sercice. Mr. Anderson now leave the Ship as Europeans are all discharged from Chineese service.
